Welcome to the Yoga for Harmony website
Yoga for Harmony is a small independant yoga studio set up by myself, Julie Potter, in 2006.
My intention was to create a peaceful, holistic, homely and yet professional space in which to share my yoga passion and interest (see studio). Although the studio can take up to 18 students, we like to keep classes small and intimate and most have around 8 to 12 attendees.
In the beginning I was joined by a small selection of friends and colleagues and we were offering only 4 or 5 classes a week. Now I have over 20 tutors offering up to 25 weekly classes (see timetable ), a selection of monthly worshops and various workshops with guest tutors (see workshops and events).
I began practising yoga in 1993. My teacher training was with British Wheel of Yoga and I completed a 1 year Foundation Course followed by the 3 year Diploma course in 2004. I continue to develop and deepen my own practise and attend continuous training as I believe that experience and developing knowledge is essential to good teaching. (see more about me on tutors page)
Classes Available: Although my interest is with a modern interpretation of Hatha Yoga, and we specialise in Traditional Hatha Yoga, the studio offers many different styles of yoga. Several of the tutors are my long term colleagues and friends, who have been teaching for many years, who share my ethos, and have been teaching at the studio since we opened.
We also offer some other related disciplines. Classes you can expect to fine include:-
Traditional and modern Hatha Yoga, Beginners Yoga, Align and Flow Yoga, Hatha Vinyasa Flow Yoga, Ashtanga (modified primary series), Kundalini Yoga, Recuperative/Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, Yoga for Pregnancy and Birth, Parent and Teen Yoga, Traditional Meditation and Philosophy, Deep Relaxation.
Additional disciplines include Tai Chi/Qi Gong, Feldenkrais Method, Power Pilates Mat, Egyptian Belly Dancing, Gong Baths, Reiki one day training courses and Teacher Training courses.
Opening times: To minimise, costs the studio is only open when classes are running. For security reasons we usually lock the front door when the class starts, so if you are a few minutes late you will need to knock to gain access. Please do ensure you arrive on time attendees who come more that 5 minutes late may not be allowed to join the class as it causes disturbance to those already settled.
We often have a changed timetable on Bank Holiday weekends and we close Bank Holiday Mondays, over Easter weekend and usually for 2 weeks during the Christmas period.
Parking: Please note that we only have pedestrian access to the studio and parking outside or in the surround areas is prohibited. Please leave plenty of time to park in the nearby public car parks. click here for details of available parking
Private Tuition: is available by appointment starting at £45 per hour
Studio Hire: The Studio is, on occasion, available for private hire, subject to the event being suitable. Please call Julie on 07828 132 091 or email email@example.com
