Saturday afternoon Monthly – ‘Deep Relaxation’ with Liz FRYOG Dip

Posted by Caroline on March 17, 2011  |   Comments Off

This is our regular relaxation session which takes place one Saturday in the month

De-stress mind and body using the techniques of deep relaxation.

Ever gone to bed exhausted, and got up in the morning still feeling fatigued? We mostly retain the tensions that we go to sleep with, whether these are muscular, or mental and emotional stresses. In order to fully relax and benefit from our rest, these tensions must be released – which is what the techniques of deep relaxation are designed to do.

This release of tension reduces many of the symptoms of stress, such as tiredness, anxiety and insomnia. Deep relaxation has a balancing effect on the endocrine system, calms the nervous system as well as aiding digestion and the heart and circulatory systems. It is beneficial to practice during pregnancy.

No previous experience of yoga is necessary. The practice involves lying down for an hour and listening to simple instructions in a warm studio with under-floor heating. Wear warm, loose, comfortable clothing; mats, blankets and cushions are available.

Benefit from the restorative relaxation of body and mind through sense withdrawal, distance yourself from external distractions and enter a relaxed state of consciousness through the experience of pratyhara, one of Patanjali’s eight limbs of yoga.

Time: 3.30pm to 4.30pm

Cost: £7.00
