The beginners Course has been introduced at the studio for those students who prefer to attend a course in order to gain confidence before attending our other weekly drop-in classes.
A series of classes aimed at those with very little, or no previous yoga experience, and for those who find joining an existing class a little daunting. We will be covering aspects of Hatha Yoga including posture practise (asana), breathing techniques and relaxation.
Everybody is welcome.
To become aware of your breathing, eventually allowing the breath to become smooth, lengthen and deepen.
Soften, not to end gain or be competitive with yourself or anyone else. Work mindfully with sensitivity
Become aware of how the spine responds to the breath.
Importance of the ground – Yield to ground
Introduce some basic postures and limbering
This style of Yoga is a non-competitive form of Hatha Yoga; it facilitates deep releases on all levels and is accessible to everyone of any age.
The practice is primarily interested in freeing the breath and spine together with a sense of grounding or yielding to the earth. Focussing on the breath together with an attentive, inquisitive mind allows you to be kind to yourself and listen to your body’s needs, allowing you to become your own teacher. It is an individual and unique approach for each person, which means ‘one posture fits all’ is not the case, each one of us is different, so we need to work differently to allow space and freedom to be found.
This approach facilitates change and enables you to experience a peaceful space within, thus resulting in a less stressed body/mind, good health and improved posture.
