Pranayama and the Chakras

The day will explore breathing techniques and Pranayama practices that can be used to connect with and influence Chakra energies. This will be approached through four general sections:-

The classic practice of Pranava AUM (section breathing with Mudra and Mantra). General and individual Chakra practice and ways of combining them.

Basic Chakra Pranayamas with variations and extensions leading into Chakra Pranayama Meditation and ways of ‘grounding’ energy after practice.

Pranayama Kriyas: i) Prana Kriya – gateway into Ajna Chakra    ii) The deeply relaxing Hang Sah Kriya

Classic Kumbaka: Ujjaii and Bhramari

These sections will be explored independantly and then looked at in terms of combining various practices to deepen and enhance the connection made with the various Chakras

Minimum requirement:- Two years Yoga experience

We welcome David back for another visit.  David is one of our most regular guests and has visited us several times since we first opened over 5 years ago. We very much look forward to these lovely sessions, and they do sell out so book early to avoid disappointment.

David Sye’s infamous YogaBeats is now an internationally recognised and distinct form of Yoga – always exploratory.  Gone forever are earnestly fixed postures held in reverential silence.  Instead music and pulsing rhythms encourage constant shifting movements in the body allowing the practitioner an easy and joyful path to flexibilityl.  Be prepared for some very serious fun.

De-stress Yoga Workshop with Charlotte Watts, 23rd September 2012 1.30pm to 4.30pm

Breaking stress-craving cycles

We all have those things we turn to for soothing and taking out of the present moment when stress hits. Whether yours is chocolate, wine, shopping, endless TV or picking a fight, looking at how we deal with stress through food, breath and relaxation helps us break the cycles that turn us to behaviour patterns we may want to change. In the yoga practice we will explore how managing our reactions to both relaxation and stronger poses can help us adapt to stress off the mat and react less towards these negative coping patterns.

Charlotte has been practising yoga since 1996, teaching for over 5 years after advanced 500hour training with the Vajrasati School in Brighton. Also a Nutritional Therapist for over 10 years and author of The De-Stress Diet, she works with clients to relieve causative elements of stress-related disorders, energy issues, craving cycles, sleep issues and mental health. She focusses on how we can become adaptive and resilient – to enjoy modern living without its stresses upsetting our quality of life.

Preparing for the Christmas onslaught

This was once a feast to prepare the immune system and reserves for the coming cold, hard months but sugar, stress and shopping have become the norm. Enjoying a healthful holiday and avoiding the possible ‘leisure sickness’ that comes when stress hormones finally drop just takes some key points of awareness. Here we move from some practical diet and lifestyle winter considerations that can help us get stronger and more positive in the darker months, to a warming and nourishing yoga practice to help us embrace winter without gritting our teeth against the cold!

Charlotte has been practising yoga since 1996, teaching for over 5 years after advanced 500hour training with the Vajrasati School in Brighton.
