Sunday 6th March 2011 10.00am-4.00pm 'Loosening the Self-Image' with Bram Williams A Day of Tibetan Kum Nye Yoga and Meditation "Spiritual Confidence is more difficult to attain than wordly confidence. We can easily learn how to drive a car, fix a lawn mower, or talk informatively on a variety of subjects. But how can we learn to attain inner confidence? There are no specific steps to follow. Yet, by utilizing the insight, strenth and confidence gained from meditation we naturally discover the truth which is always within us. And in becoming more confident of our experience ...we learn to believe and trust in ourselves." (Gesture of Balance, Tarthang Tulku 1977) Kum (Subtle Body) Nye (massage) derives from the Tibetan Buddist Medical, Meditation and Yoga traditions. It combines slow movements, relaxation, self-massage, breathing exercises, visualisation and voice techniques. The aim is to develop clarity, vitality and balance. Kum Nye can be used for self healing, deep relaxation and as preparation for meditation. The day will be suitable for beginners as well as experienced yoga practitioners. We will introduce and practise these timeless exercises together. The day will be facilitated by Bram Williams a London based Yoga Teacher who trained in Kum Nye at Ratna Ling, a Nyingma Buddist Centre in California. For further information and to book (Cost £40) please contact Bram direct: bram@bodhiyoga.co.uk /www.bodhi-yoga.co.uk /bookings @ www.bookwhen.com/bodhi-yoga
Sunday 15th May 2011 10.00am-4.00pm Full Day Workshop with Philip Xerri 'Pranayama In Perspective'There seems to be little logical, structured, developmental practice and teaching of Pranayama that covers the vast array of control, conditioning and attunement processes leading up to the practise of Classical Pranayama. And yet there does exist such a structure spread over five general phases of practice: Foundations - control of the breath/lungs and initial attunement of the subtle anatomy, through sectional breathing, Mudras and Apraakasha Bindu. Developmental - holistic development of body, mind, emotions. and spirit through rhythmical breathing. Alignment - harmonisation of the Koshas though Polarity Breathing. Purification - particularly of Ida and Pingala Nadi achieved through Nadi Shodanah and the Bandhas. Classical - the eight Kumbhakas. The day will give a 'bird's eye' view and experience of the Five Phases through lecture and practice. Proceedings will be workshop style, and explanation of the particular phase giving understanding of its physical and energetic aims followed by a practical application of one of more practices taken from that phase. Philip has spent many years developing this structured, logical and safe approach to the practice and teaching of Pranayama. Most of his work is derived from the teaching of Swami Gitananda, and he has now been teaching Pranayama for 30 years. The day is open to students/teachers with at least 2 years experience and comes with an 8 page A4 booklet Cost: £48 - Booking form
