About Yoga for Harmony

Yoga for Harmony

The Yoga for Harmony Studio ‘evolved’ in 2006, out of a personal desire to have my own space in which to teach and share my passion and knowledge of yoga, but also as a business and career challenge.
It is nestled between the residential Arthur Road & the Vansitaart Trading Estate in Windsor.

How it Happened

Yoga for Harmony was created with no financial backing, no business plan or indeed clear thought, but simply from savings, loans from family members, enthusiasm, lots of hard work, and a friend who bought the property in the first place and took a year to fully redevelop the building, and 'fit out' the studio space.

It was converted to create a purpose built yoga studio from what was a workshop/warehouse and, we believe before that, might have been the stables for a grocery shop on the corner fronting Arthur Road, perhaps back in the late 1800’s.

I borrowed some money from my Mum, bought some mats and blocks to start with, and then ‘opened up’, putting any profits straight back into more equipment, purchases and promotions, and so the evolution began.

The early tutors were well respected colleagues and who agreed to join me on my journey. We had a timetable of 5 classes a week to start with and now have a very full weekly timetable of over 20 classes, as well as a wide range of specialist and guest tutor workshops.
Yoga for Harmony is now widely respected both locally throughout Berkshire and Nationally as a ‘home’ for good quality yoga and very experienced tutors.

One to One/Small Group Yoga with Julie

Julie offers one-to-one yoga classes, focussed on individual needs, beyond that which can be achieved in a group class setting. Particularly suitable for people recovering from, or living with an injury or illness, but also for those who want to improve their practise in a specific area.

The Yoga Studio

The studio has a capacity of 18 students, although the aim is to keep the regular weekly classes to about 12 students, in order to offer a more personal and friendly class environment. This aspect has been much appreciated by our regular visitors.

The studio, benefits from a beautiful natural wood floor, with under floor heating – lovely on chilly winter days and for a comfortable relaxation period. There is a large mirrored wall to help with posture alignment, and plenty of natural light. I now have sophisticated cameras and a large screen set up, to allow for good quality on-line classes as well as 'blended' classes
(in-person combined with on-line participants).

The studio is fully equipped with yoga mats, blocks, belts etc, but I would advise that you bring your own whenever possible

We offer many different styles of Yoga

My intention at the YFH studio was and still is, to encompass many different styles of yoga, as well as complimentary practises such as Tai-Chi, Reiki, Gong Baths, Kirtan. I personally specialise in modern Hatha Yoga, but with a twist of an influence from ‘Scaravelli’ teachings.

The tutors who join me, are all fully qualified and insured within their particular school or discipline and have all been chosen for their wide range of experience and knowledge. Several have been teaching for over 20 years, practising themselves even longer, and have been teaching at the studio since it opened in 2006.

Together we offer a wealth of teaching experience, knowledge, and personal development and practise. We all continue to train, learn and develop, in order to make the teaching at Yoga for Harmony of the highest possible standard, and renowned in the area.
Contact details and profiles for the tutors can be found on the Tutor page.
Please be aware that there are no parking facilities outside the studio and for safety reasons and to respect our neighbours convenience, I request no parking, waiting, dropping off or picking up outside the studio.
The studio is well served with nearby public parking at the Windsor Leisure Centre and at the Alma Road car parks.

After 6.00pm and all day on Sunday attendees are able to use the Windsor Glass Co.(Numbers 13 – 22) and Howden's car parking spaces free of charge. Access is via Vansittart Road and Duke Street.
Please note that the studio is only open when classes are running.

Tutors aim to arrive about 10 minutes prior to class start times, so if you arrive early please don't be alarmed if the door is locked. There is often a changed timetable on Bank Holiday weekends, and the studio is closed on Bank Holiday Mondays, over Easter weekend and usually for 2 weeks during the Christmas period.
