These classes incorporate contemporary biomechanical principles with a focus on alignment and the sequenced programming to affect and improve core stability. The Pilates principles will enable body awareness, a key factor for mindful movement,
to ultimately affect the body.
Among the many observable benefits of regular
attendance to Pilates classes are:
Core strength and stability / Better balance and coordination
Better posture / Longer, leaner, toned muscles
Reduced frequency/ intensity of back pain
Spinal health / Ease of movement
The results are observable in the ease and efficiency of functional movement, as well as supporting you towards
a more athletic performance.

A brief history of Pilates
The Pilates method was originally developed by Joseph Pilates (1880 – 1967), an exercise regimen to improve physical fitness, and then further developed to help prisoners of war to regain strength and mobility during WW1. Fast forward to 1923, New York, he, with his wife, opened their first studio, which was very popular amongst the professional dancers community to prevent injury and to develop strong, long and lean muscles. Pilates method continues to evolve, improve and is ever more popular.
2.00pm - 3.15pm Yoga for All with Julie (on-line option available)
This is a general class for all ages, abilities and experience, including beginners.
The class is based around the main principles of Hatha Yoga, and includes breathing practices, general posture work and relaxation to finish. There are interludes for information or dsicussion, yogic philosophy and student interaction is welcomed, and I like to encourage 'fun' and 'freedom' within the practice.
The yoga I teach is an evolution of nearly 30 years of practice and study, encompassing a broad experience of different styles and teachings.

7.30pm - 9.00pm Yoga for All with Julie (on-line option available)
This class is perhaps slightly less structured than a general class and is aimed at spending time to really explore and develop our own practise. There is time to reflect and I welcome questions and discussion on ideas and experiences during the class.
We will explore postures and breathing practises, but in a slow and mindful way and the class will meander through various options and approaches to the practise.
Everyone is welcome. If you are a complete beginner to yoga but have a generally fit and healthy disposition this class will be suitable for you.
The Yoga I teach is from influences, experiences and knowldedge I have drawn from over 30 years of working with 'Scaravelli' trained and inspired tutors, and will work with the felt sense of the body and not from the requirement to 'perform' asanas, moving away from ‘external’ evaluation of the postures and moving towards an ‘internal’ sense of the postures, moving away from the more used traditional approach of systemised yoga to a more experiential approach. Whilst looking at traditional Hatha Yoga postures and pranayamas, I will be encouraging fun and freedom within the traditional structure, whilst taking into our awareness fundamental anatomical and functional aspects required by our bodies for maximum wellbeing benefits.
